How We Rate Canadian Casino Sites
Our ranking is built on how much of its own position an operator is willing to put in writing, and how much of that writing can be checked somewhere other than its own website.
What we score
- Credential legibility. Whether the site states an issuing body, a licence number and a licensed entity name where a reader can find them, or whether it shows a seal and hopes that settles the question. A footer carrying a graphic and no data points scores badly whoever the issuer turns out to be.
- Currency of the claim. Whether the licensing language reflects the regime as it exists now. Curacao replaced its sub-licensing model and the old sub-licences expired in January 2025, so a footer still citing a master licence is carrying a dated claim and we treat it as one.
- Terms as published. Real figures, in the currency the operator publishes them in, dated when we captured them. An operator that states a match and omits the wagering multiple is asking a reader to accept an offer before they can price it, and it costs position here.
- Entry bar. The minimum qualifying deposit, because it sets what a first test of an account costs. Across our current lineup that runs from C$1 to C$45.
What we did not do
- We did not verify a licence for any brand in the current lineup. No issuing body, licence number or licensed entity name for any of them is in our file. We say so rather than filling the column.
- We did not time payouts and we do not rank on speed.
- We did not test a game and we publish no return percentages.
- We did not audit any operator's data handling.
Where a rating comes from
The score attached to each brand is our editorial assessment across those four criteria. It is a judgement rather than a measurement, and it is not a verdict that a brand is trustworthy. We would rather label it that way than dress it up as data.
When we revisit
Licensing frameworks and bonus terms both move without notice. We re-read the lineup's published terms on a rolling basis and date every figure on the page. If an operator's own cashier disagrees with what we show, the cashier is right and we are out of date, so tell us at [email protected].
